CDRE® Code of Ethics

Sometimes, the Court will appoint a CDRE® in a family law case to list and sell the property as the Court’s Expert under Texas Evidence Code Section 706.

CDRE®’s adhere to a set of ethical standards specifically created for divorce real estate.  This code goes beyond their fiduciary duty defined by the Texas Real Estate Commission’s Code of Ethics and the National Association of Realtors Code of Ethics.

Purpose Driven

Affirmatively seek to teach and educate the family law community about real estate matters relative to divorce


Hold the best interests of the divorcing family as first priority


Remain a neutral, unbiased independent third party with no vested interest in the outcome for either side


Be completely transparent about the listing, sales process, expectations, market data and all matters that impact the sale

No Dual Agency

Will not represent buyers in our listings. Our duty will be to the seller(s) only

Arm’s Length Transaction

Will never have a vested interest in the buyer or the buyer’s agent, and will not buy the listing for personal or investment purposes. Furthermore, a CDRE™ will not represent either divorcing spouse in a purchase transaction during the life of the divorce listing

Maintain Client Confidentiality

Maintain clients’ confidentiality from the public, even after the life of the transaction

No Kickbacks

Will not provide referral fees or kickbacks to attorneys representing our clients
